SUPPORTING YOUR PARISH

Our financial offerings to God are as much a means of our giving thanks to God as are our prayers and our volunteering. Of course, not everyone has the resources to give large amounts financially, but they may have time and talents to offer in service and volunteering which are also precious gifts to the Lord that you cannot put a price on.

Our parish seeks to provide a spiritual home for people to gather, to celebrate, to encounter and worship God, to be formed as disciples of Jesus and to foster community, to then be sent out to share this life and love in mission with others. Our parish, like every parish, would not be able to do this if it were not for the many people who generously give of their time, their talents, and their financial treasure to support the mission of this parish, its ministries and service, and its infrastructure.

Any giving from our financial resources toward the works, mission, upkeep, and maintenance of our church and its community and its ministries, is really our giving back to God. Such giving is an expression of our faith and trust in God’s providence, an expression of our thanksgiving for God’s graciousness, and a recognition that everything we have and are is ultimately a gift from the Lord. Yes, your generosity in giving to the Church pays the bills and enables us to do the work of ministry, but it is also so much more.

As St Paul wrote (in 2 Corinthians 9:7-8): “Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.”

May God bless you. Fr Jason
